Dorothy Keenan is the owner and general manager of FutureWorks, a company that specializes in helping grow the BC labour force in new and emerging industries. Helping companies and individuals succeed in the workforce is her passion. An expert at bringing the right people in at the right time, Dorothy’s success speaks for itself. With 14 years experience in developing and managing innovative human resources projects, Dorothy is skilled at moving ideas from concept through the development process to successful implementation.
Dorothy’s current project, Build for the Future, is the result of her strong desire to help technology companies achieve growth and financial success by aligning their people strategy with their business strategy. Developed in partnership with leading industry associations, DigiBC, Life Sciences BC and the BC Technology Industry Association, Dorothy aims to identify and address the human resources challenges hindering growth within small businesses.
Through FutureWorks, Dorothy’s accomplishments include the development of the highly successful ScienceLink and JobFit wage subsidy programs, which has placed over 3500 individuals in new positions throughout the BC economy; the creation of Knowledge Passport, an innovative mentorship program for individuals interested in entering the science and technology field; and the implementation of a number of transition centres throughout the province for downsized individuals.
Helping organizations and individuals understand the labour market and how they fit in, has been Dorothy’s life long career.
Through her various initiatives and projects, Dorothy continues to work across all industries, ranging from technology and new media to the life sciences; throughout the private sector and within government ministries.
