WorkStart links youth with appropriate companies and offers a wage subsidy for the initial training period so that employers can offer extensive skills upgrading, on-the-job coaching and mentoring. Depending on the complexity of the new position and the qualifications of the candidate, this funding covers a percentage of the employee's wages for up to 24 weeks.

WorkStart assists by bringing eligible jobseekers and employers together by providing financial assistance towards the cost of the new employee's wages.

Provides wage funding

This funding allows the new employees' skills to be upgraded to meet the company's current competency standards through an individualized, company-specific work plan which can cover up to the first 24 weeks on the job.

Connects you with prospective employers

Once registered, your résumé  will be sent to employers seeking candidates with your skills profile. You can also utilize WorkStart funding to assist you in marketing your self to employers during your own job search.  WorkStart works with your career objectives.  Placements have been in a wide variety of positions for youth entering the labour market.
