Eligibility
To be eligible for this program youth must meet the following criteria:
- aged 15 to 30
- unemployed or underemployed
- be out of school
- have limited experience in their chosen field
- high school non-completion
Priority is given to young people experiencing some of the following potential barriers to employment:
- high school non-completion
- language barriers
- visible or ethnic minority
- residence in a rural or remote location
- disability
- lone-parent household (defined as single youth heading a household)
- Aboriginal origin
- health, drug and/or alcohol-related problems
- low literacy levels or innumeracy
- street involvement
- contact with justice, child welfare or social assistance systems
- homeless or in danger of becoming homeless
- lack of social supports
- poor self-management or behaviour-management abilities
- other reasons that are hindering the youth from successfully becoming gainfully employed
