Interview Day Tips…

By Carol Browne | July 8, 2010

A helpful reminder

We have interview days every Tuesday at our office. At this time we interview candidates one-on-one after attending the info session. This is the time we are screening the jobseekers to refer out to our employers.

If you’re coming to meet with us, it’s a good idea to do a bit of preparation beforehand. Here’s what I’ve seen work well.

1) Have your marketing profile ready to go. We want to make sure you make it on the weekly newsletter to our employers.

2) Have an answer ready to go for this question:

What happened in your last position that you are no longer working for the company?

If you were laid off due to downsizing, or, the company you worked for went bankrupt, that’s all you need to say. No further details are necessary. You certainly don’t want to give any extra details than you have to because then you have the danger of falling into what could be considered negative talk about your previous employer. That won’t help you in this scenario. Please trust me on that.

If you’re not quite sure how to word your experience, ask us during our one-to-one interview. We can help with that.
